Farley will be played by Paul Walter Hauser, known for his roles in “Richard Jewell” and the miniseries “Blackbird”. Behind the camera will be comedian Josh Gad (“Beauty and the Beast”), for whom this will be his directorial debut.
The film will be produced by Lorne Michaels, the creator of the satirical program “Saturday Night Live”, which promoted Farley. The script based on the book “The Chris Farley Show: A Biography in Three Acts” was written by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (“500 Days of Love”, Oscar nomination for “The Disaster Artist”). The film received the blessings of the late comedian's relatives.
Farley was born in 1964. During his studies, he discovered his love for comedy, and after graduating, he began his acting career. The turning point was when he joined the cast of “Saturday Night Live” in 1990. Farley made excellent use of his physical condition for body comedy, while his temperament made each sketch with his participation explosive and unpredictable.
After being fired from “SNL” in 1995, he began to focus on his film career. He starred in, among others, “Black Sheep”, “Tom Fat” and “The Great White Ninja”. He was also hired to provide the voice of the title character of the animation “Shrek”. Unfortunately, he did not complete the recordings.
Farley has struggled with numerous demons since the beginning of his career. He was often depressed and was also known for his weakness for alcohol and other drugs. He went to rehab 17 times. When he appeared as a guest on “SNL” in October 1997, everyone noticed his poor health. On December 18 this year, the comedian's younger brother found his body. Farley died at the age of just 33. The cause of death was a mixture of cocaine and morphine. The comedian is still remembered by friends from the “Saturday Night Live” days, including Adam Sandler, David Spade’ai Bob Odenkirk.
