“The Witcher”: What about the new series of the cult series? Good news for fans

Netflix has officially started work on the fourth season “The Witcher” in the UK and shared photos of some of the cast rehearsing the script.

The website also announced that both the fourth and fifth series will be adaptations of Andrzej Sapkowski's subsequent books from the Witcher saga – “Baptism of Fire”, “The Swallow's Tower” and “The Lady of the Lake”.

“After the shocking and groundbreaking events for the Continent, ending the third season of production, the new part of the series follows the fate of Geralt, Yennefer and Ciri, who, being away from each other, must traverse the war-ravaged Continent and face its numerous demons. If they manage to unite and lead the groups of misfits among whom they find themselves, they have a chance to survive the baptism by fire and find themselves again,” reads the official announcement of season 4.

Let us remind you that in the fourth season the role of the main character, Geralt of Rivia, will be taken over by Liam Hemsworth. In the first three seasons, the hero was played by Henry Cavill. The latter actor announced his decision to leave the role of the White Wolf in October 2022.

According to some recipients, Cavill, who is privately a great fan of the literary original created by Andrzej Sapkowski, came into conflict with the series' scriptwriters. The source of this conflict was their overly cavalier approach to reproducing the source material, for which “The Witcher” is notoriously criticized. However, these rumors have not been officially confirmed.

In turn, director Marc Jobst stated that the actor was simply tired of working on the set, into which he put all his strength. “Shows like this are very demanding. Henry did all the stunts himself, taking care of the smallest details. When we shot a close-up of a hand holding a sword, it had to be his hand. Normally, we would bring in a stunt double so that Henry could shoot another scene at the same time.” “He didn't agree to it and the results are extraordinary,” he explained in an interview with Screen Rant.

In the last two series, in addition to Hemsworth, we will see the well-known Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Freya Allen (Ciri) and Joey Batey (Jaskier).
