The whole of Poland sang this disco polo hit. Around “You're crazy” There was a scandal!

“You're crazy” is one of the greatest hits in the history of disco polo. Its author is Janusz Konopla from the team Mirage.

However, he ensured the success of the song Marcin Miller with the team Boyswho 5 years later created his own version of the song. “You're crazy” conquered Poland. Album “APPROX”, which included the song, went platinum in less than 2 weeks. The song also topped the Disco Polo Live charts, where it spent as many as 91 weeks.

It is worth adding that the song in the Boys version would not have been created without the consent Green Star and its founder, Cezary Kulesza. The record company that had the rights to the song agreed to a new version. As it later turned out, this led to claims from Konopla. He talked about the whole matter in an interview with Journalist Marcin Miller.

“I think it's a cover, because no matter what, he wrote the song Janusz Konopla. This is an indisputable fact. And I also remember it like today, that when I released this song, it rang a bell Czarek (Kulesza) and says: 'listen, Janusz Konopla wants to meet you at our company'” – commented Miller.

“And Janusz says that you released the song, Czarek has the rights, but I would like a gratuity of PLN 8,000. zlotys. I was earning PLN 15 at that time. I couldn't agree to it and I immediately looked at Czarek and said that Czarek should pay, because what do I have to do with it?” – he continued.

“And we agreed on PLN 1,500. Two years don't pass and it happens again Janusz Konopla he calls me: 'hi Marcin, it's great that you did this number, thanks to you I have some concerts'” – he explained.

“Then the interview was published Janusz Konoplawhere he said that Marcin Miller he stole my song. I immediately grab the phone and call him: 'Janusz, listen, what's going on. So all of a sudden you say that thanks to me you have a lot of concerts, and now you publicly say that I stole it from you.' And he says, well, you stole it. I won't argue with this man anymore” – he concluded.

On to the matter, the creator of the group Mirage he commented, among others, in 2018.

“I wrote the song in 1991. We released it on a second cassette titled 'You're Crazy'. Five years later Marcin Millerwithout asking anyone for permission, he recorded this song and signed that he wrote the lyrics himself, which is not true” – he quoted Konopla Onet as saying. 'Back then, ZAiKS didn't keep an eye on everything. It's a little different now” – said Konopla, without commenting on the fact that he received the negotiated remuneration for the song.

Miller himself, in an interview for Plejada, pointed out what it was like performing songs by other bands at that time. He cited the role of the Green Star label.

“There were many bands associated with it, and its owner had the rights to all their songs, and it functioned a bit like publishing. If you liked a song by another artist, you could include it in your repertoire and record it your own way. I really wanted to do something with one of Mirage's songs” – he said.
