The third part of “Knives Out”: What do we know about the new crime film with Daniel Craig

The film will be titled “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” and will debut on the Netflix streaming platform in 2025. This will be the second production created by the director in cooperation with the website. After the premiere of “Knives Out” in 2019, the platform bought the rights to two sequels for $469 million.

Johnson from the beginning he planned to create a series about Blanc's adventures. “When I was making the first film, I thought: 'If this sells, it will be nice to make another one, in the same way that Agatha Christie wrote her books,'” the director said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“Knives Out” entered Polish cinemas on November 29, 2019. Detective Benoit Blanc from the southern United States (Daniel Craig) tried to solve the mystery of the death of writer Harlan Thrombey (Christopher Plummer). The prime suspect was nurse Marta (Ana de Armas), who turns out to inherit the old man's entire fortune, much to the displeasure of his family.

The second part of the series, “Glass Onion: The 'Knives Out' Movie”, debuted on Netflix on December 23, 2022. Blanc ended up on the island of billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton). He asked the detective to take part in a crime game he is running with his friends. The fun ends when one of the guests dies in mysterious circumstances.

Both films earned Johnson an Oscar nomination for screenplay.

Work on the third part has been ongoing since 2023. Johnson had to stop writing the script during the WGA strike, which lasted from early May to late September. Filming is scheduled to begin in June in London. Plot details are being kept secret. However, the short announcement states that this will be the most dangerous case in Blanc's career.

Johnson once again assembled an impressive cast. In addition to Craig, “Wake Up Dead Man” will star Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Mila Kunis, Josh O'Connor, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny and Daryl McCormack. The film is scheduled to be released on Netflix in 2025.
