Tadeusz Woźniak is dead. All of Poland knew him from the hit “The Clockmaker of Light”

With the mentioned song “The Watchmaker of Light” (check!) to text Bogdan Chorążuk Tadeusz Wozniak won in 1972 National Festival of Polish Song in Opole.

The singer’s death was reported on the National Library website.

“It is with deep sadness that we received the news of the death of Tadeusz Woźniak, an outstanding composer and singer, friend of the National Library,” the press release read. The artist was 77 years old.

The beginnings of his musical career date back to 1966 – then under the pseudonym Daniel Dan in the bigbit team Savages occurred during 1st Radio Song Fair. He has shared the stage with stars such as: Blue-Black and Czesław Niemenbesides he sang with the group Fourwith which he made his first recordings for Polish Radio Programme III.

He wrote songs to poems Julian Tuwim, Bolesław Leśmian, Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński. He achieved his greatest successes in the late 1960s and in the following decade. He became one of the symbols of Polish poetic song.

In 2005 he was awarded the Gold Medal for Merit to Culture Gloria Artis by the Minister of Culture. In 2014 he received the Gold Cross of Merit for his artistic achievements.
