“Stuntman”: A joke on Johnny Depp and Amber Heard? Storm on the Internet

Movie “Stuntman” will hit theaters on May 3 this year. So far, several pre-premiere screenings have taken place and some critics have shared their impressions online. It turns out that one of the jokes outraged many people – a storm broke out on the Internet. What is it about?

As reported by “The Independent”, in one of the scenes the character played by Hannah Waddingham enters a demolished trailer and says: “It's as if Amber and Johnny were here.” This is a clear reference to “trial of the decade”, in which Johnny Depp accused his ex-wife Amber Heard of publicly accusing him of using violence against her a few years earlier.

Some viewers thought that the joke that appeared in “Stuntman” was inappropriate.

“It's 2024 and we're throwing jokes about domestic violence into action comedies!”, “I was very confused when I watched the movie”, “There's a joke in 'Stuntman' that makes fun of the violence Amber Heard experienced in her relationship with Johnny Depp “Boycott this film” – these are just some of the comments.

“Stuntman” starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt is a film based on the TV series of the same title. It tells the story of stuntman Colt who goes in search of a missing movie star (played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson), for whom he was once a stunt double. Blunt plays the role of director and ex-girlfriend of the titular stuntman, Jody Moreno.

The series on which the script for the film “Stuntman” was based was broadcast on ABC in 1981-86.

The film will be released in Polish cinemas on May 3.
