In 1987, an unusual film debuted in cinemas. It did not turn out to be a financial success, and critics did not leave a dry thread on it. Over time, viewers began to appreciate the unconventionality of the production and ““Spaceballs” has become one of the most cult films in the world.
Director Mel Brooks, a filmmaker specializing in parodies of famous works and film genres, created a caricatural response to sci-fi productions. His project was based on many titles, including: “Star Trek” or “Alien”, but still ““Spaceballs” is most often considered a parody of “Star Wars”.
Recently, information appeared that Brooks’ work will have a sequel. Amazon MGM Studios has started production of the second part. The original director will return as a producer, and Josh Greenbaum will reprise his previous role.
There will also be a production division Josh Gad, the actor who played the role of the charming snowman Olaf in one of the most famous Disney animations, “Frozen”. What’s more, The 43-year-old will be seen in a parody in one of the main roles!
The script will be written by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez and the above-mentioned Josh Gad. Kevin Salter will executive produce. The project is at an early stage and Plot details are kept secret. Amazon is not revealing any more details at this time.
Is it a good idea to make a sequel to a classic after 37 years? We’ll have to wait for the answer.
