Pink Floyd under fire from critics! “Rotten trash”

Competition organized by PinkFloyd The idea was to recall the iconic compositions from “The Dark Side of The Moon” and to check how the songs resonate with the new generation of artists. Hundreds of participants applied, and the works were assessed by a group of people associated with the team, including: drummer Nick Mason Whether Gerald Scarfe (author of caricatures and illustrations for the album “The Wall”), as well as Kyle Alba, Sarah Smith, Daisy Jacobs, Harry Pearce, Terry Gilliam, Alan Yentob and Anton Corbijn.

As Aubrey Powell, the team's creative consultant, said, ultimately as many as 900 works were submitted. “The final ten have been selected and I can only say that they were brilliant choices and representative of the different styles of entries, all of which showed deep respect for the band's legacy,” the filmmaker revealed.

The winners were announced by Nick Mason himself, and every day at 5 p.m. another appreciated clip was presented. We have already met all the winners, including: works made of plasticine, hand-drawn or designed in graphic programs. One winner caused a huge internet storm. Talking about Damian Gaume from Argentina, who presented the video for “Any Color You Like”. The man shared the video and explained how his project was created. He used Stable Diffusion AI to create the final effect, which means that the music video was made by artificial intelligence. It is worth adding that each of the distinguished participants received PLN 10,000. pounds of prizes – in addition, in the coming days the jurors will indicate who won special prizes of PLN 100, PLN 50 and PLN 10,000. pounds.

Some of the band's fans believe that by choosing an artist who creates using artificial intelligence, the group is destroying its legacy. After all, Pink Floyd has been famous throughout its career as one of the most creative on the market, and its covers are often treated as musical works of art. A big hit goes to Gerald Scarfe, whose sketches for “The Wall” became an integral part of this recording, and as a member of the jury he did not object to the use of other people's work. Now Internet users are wondering whether using someone else's music on the basis of which artificial intelligence creates is theft, since for the jurors the work was created on the basis of “stealing” other works, it is one of the best.

“I don't understand why some musicians think AI stealing music is wrong, but AI stealing images is not. No thanks Pink Floyd; “Using AI is completely against the ethos of the dark side of the moon and Pink Floyd in general, it really is disappointing”; “If there's one non-musical thing I associate with Pink Floyd, it's the amazing hand-crafted animation. Not this rotten AI crap. What were you thinking when you chose this piece of shit as one of the winners?”; “Imagine spending hundreds of hours hand-animating a music video just for a competition, and suddenly a guy who is a self-proclaimed artist shows up and asks the AI to ” nice guitar planet” and gets 10,000 for it. “Depressing,” write angry fans.

So far, the team has not responded to these allegations. The full statement by the creator of the clip can be seen below.
