‘Freaky Friday’ Sequel Starts Filming: Lindsay Lohan on Returning

Freaky Friday” from 2003 was a new, modernized version of the comedy Disney from 1977 starring Barbara Harris and Jodie Foster, directed by Gary Nelson. In 1995, the first remake was made – a television film directed by Melanie Mayron and starring Shelley Long and Gaby Hoffman. The last version of Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis in the main roles turned out to be a commercial success. The film can be watched on the Disney+ platform.

It was recently announced that a sequel to “Freaky Friday” was in the works. At the end of June, work began on the set, and Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis return to their roles after more than 20 years.

“The Colemans are returning to theaters in 2025! Production has begun on ‘Freaky Friday’!” Walt Disney Studios announced via social media.

Lindsay Lohan spoke about working on the sequel to “Freaky Friday” in a recent interview. In an interview with Nightline, she admitted that Reprising her role as Anna Coleman leaves her feeling nostalgic.

“Jamie (Lee Curtis) and I have been in touch for years,” Lohan said, adding: “What do you say when you have a best friend or someone you’re really close to? You might not see them for years, but when you meet again, it’s like you were never apart.”

In the same interview, the actress mentioned other Disney films she has starred in. These include “The Twins” and “Garby: Supercar”. “I felt like a kid again,” she confessed, referring to her return to the set of “Freaky Friday”.

“I am so grateful for every moment. Every second… I will be moved. It’s a wonderful experience,” she concluded.
