As we reported in May, work is underway on another series about the adventures of Dexter. This time, however, it will not be a sequel about the fate of a criminal, but a prequel. In a production titled “Dexter: Original Sin” We will go back to 1991 (15 years before the events of the original series), where we will see Dexter as a student who takes his first steps on the path to crime. He finds support in his father, who teaches him a kind of Code. He is supposed to help Dexter find people who deserve to be punished and escape justice.
The role of young Dexter will be played by Patrick Gibson, known from the series “Shadow and Bone”. His on-screen partners will be Christian Slater (as Harry, Dexter’s father) and Molly Brown (she will play Dexter’s sister, Debra Morgan. Recently, the team has expanded again.
As reported by Deadline, Patrick Dempsey, known for his role as Dr. Derek Shepherd in the TV series “Grey’s Anatomy,” has joined the cast. The actor will play Aaron Spencer, a police captain in Miami Metro Homicide, who has been a friend of Harry Morgan (Christian Slater) for years.
The series “Dexter” was based on the novel by Jeff Lindsay. For eight seasons, viewers watched Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) – who led a double life. He worked as a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Police Department by day and by night On his own, he pursued criminals who had escaped justice.
“Dexter” turned the world of crime series upside down. Making the main character a serial killer with principles who administered justice on his own and killed criminals allowed for the presentation of an interesting perspective, prompted reflection on moral choices and consequently, it ensured the production of several great seasons.
