Celine Dion in tears at the film premiere. “She turned my fear into hope”

Celine Dion in December 2022, she announced to the world that she was terminally ill. It turned out that he was struggling with Moersch-Woltmann syndromealso called the stiff person syndrome.

It is an incurable autoimmune disease that manifests itself, among others, pain and progressive muscle stiffness, which also makes walking difficult and significantly limits the ability to sing.

At the same time, she canceled her tour and did not appear in public until the awards ceremony Grammys 2024where she received a standing ovation.

Recently, it turned out that the singer was hiding the truth about the disease, because in fact she was diagnosed almost 20 years ago.

During the official premiere of the film “I Am: Celine Dion” in New York there was a speech by the star herself. The artist thanked her fans for the enormous support they give her. Tears were also shed.

“I can’t believe how lucky I am to have fans in my life. Thank you,” Dion said before starting to cry.

Then Rene-Charles, her eldest son, brought tissues to the stage. The singer is very upset about the fact that she cannot yet return to the stage and give her one hundred percent.

“Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for being part of this journey. This film is a love letter from me to each of you. I hope to see you all soon“- confessed the singer.

The star mentioned her illness. It seems that the singer’s life is getting better because she has found appropriate treatments. What’s more, the neurologist gave her very good news: “She turned my fear into hope”.

It also turns out that since announcing her diagnosis, a lot of people have started writing to the artist – both fans and people who suspected they had symptoms of the stiff person syndrome.

film director, Irene Taylor, admitted that the film itself had no plan during shooting. She came wherever Celine Dion was on a given day, and many situations happened spontaneously.

“Whenever we had an appointment, I wanted to meet her where she was at the time. There were a few days when I thought we were going to shoot, but we didn’t because she didn’t feel like it. So every day was different. Sometimes filming made her feel betterj,” Taylor says.

In the film’s trailer, the star states that he does not intend to give up and works hard every day to get back on his feet.

“You know, it’s not difficult to play a concert. It’s difficult to cancel it. (…) I miss it very much. The people. If I can’t run, I’ll walk. If I can’t walk, I’ll crawl. I won’t stop” – says.

“I Am: Celine Dion” will be available on Prime Video on June 25.
